Outlet emission filtration

Keeping stack emissions inside permit limits, with a pulse cleaning system that runs day and night.

Outlet emission filtration is the last barrier before the process air leaves through the stack. Bag filters, ceramic filters or sintered metal filters remove particulates so the plant stays within its environmental permit and reporting obligations.

These filters run continuously and often hot, so cleaning has to happen without taking the line offline. Diaphragm valves on the header tank deliver a controlled pulse to each row, holding the differential pressure inside a narrow band and keeping emissions stable between measurements.

Typical installation

  • A header tank designed and certified for the operating pressure, PED where applicable
  • Goyen or Mecair valves selected for the temperature and duty cycle
  • Blow pipes and venturis matched to the filter element length
  • A controller with differential pressure control and fault signalling to the plant control system

Common challenges

  • Emission peaks straight after a pulse, caused by a damaged element
  • Hot and humid gas streams attacking diaphragms and seals
  • Continuous operation with no window for maintenance
  • Documentation and certification required by the environmental authority

Industries

  • Cement and lime
  • Waste incineration
  • Metals and foundries
  • Chemicals
  • Power generation
  • Glass and ceramics

Questions

How does pulse cleaning affect emissions?

A correctly set pulse cleans the element without damaging it. Too much energy or too high a frequency damages the media and causes emission peaks, so pulse pressure and interval have to be tuned to the filter.

Are your header tanks certified?

Yes. VDC builds header tank systems under PED 2014/68/EU, with JIS inspection or ATEX equipment category on request.

Can you supply spares for older Goyen and Mecair installations?

Yes. Original diaphragm and repair kits for the classic Goyen and Mecair series are available from stock, including the older valve generations.

What temperature can the valves handle?

Standard diaphragms cover the usual range, and high temperature versions are available. Tell us the gas temperature and the ambient temperature at the valve and we select the right kit.
